In addition, all condensing boilers will produce a steam plume from the flue terminal. This plume can drift into neighbouring property, causing annoyance and possible further condensation on window glass or frames, so careful consideration should be given to the siting of the flue terminal.
Although high efficiency boilers require a higher initial investment, they are very economical, and quickly repay the extra initial cost in fuel savings.
From 1st April 2005 all (non oil-fired) and 1st April 2007 (oil-fired) central heating boiler installations fall under the control of Building Regulations which stipulate that all boilers fitted in both new and existing homes must be condensing type with either an ‘A’ (greater than 90%) or ‘B’(86%-90%)efficiency rating.
